Happy Moo Moo Moo New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!!

On the 30th Night today, I am blogging from the Island of Penang! Where little o' me was born 20 over years ago LOL

Arrived yesterday after driving for about 5 hours, glad the traffic wasn't as heavy as I expected, if not I will be crying!

Nothing much here, it has been pretty quiet... Gurney Plaza is where I am now, quite a bit of people hang out. Food isn't as great as I expected, Forget about going to the Gurney food court just next to the plaza where used to be a popular spot for tourist eating. The standard dropped a lot! I would recommend people to go to the Market area which is just about 5-10 mins away from the plaza with excellent Asam Laksa, Rice Noodle Soup and plenty more saliva dripping food...

I am just gonna walk down the beach and take some quick snap of photos then I will need to head home for the Reunion Dinner :D heading down to Johor the day after tomorrow to where my mum is born... gosh I really hope there isn't any traffic.. it would be at least 7-8 hours drive without traffic but it would be in HELL when the traffic kicks in!

May everyone have a prosper New Year and money keep rolling in!! :P

Groove Junction Rock Monday OFFICIAL!

Finally today I have known the feeling of being able to make a difference in life. That feeling is just great!

Kevin (of Broken Scar) is performing at Groove Junction (www.groove-junctionkl.com) today. Since I didn't had chance to catch up with him during YOUTH09 (check out my previous post), I decided to try make it to his gig today. Sadly I was late....... I just missed his set. When I arrived, SceneAtTheMovies were performing. Man, are they good!

Chatted with Kevin for awhile then it was Altered Frequency's turn and they total ROCK! I think I have been to Altered Frequency's gig before but this is the first time I heard SceneAtTheMovies. It has been months since my last gig, and I totally enjoyed today's GIG! Thanks to the organisers, Groove Junction & SceneAtTheMovies for making this happen. I couldn't stay long so after Altered Frequency's performance I left as the crowd getting more and more, filling up every space & corners of the restaurant. Oh! Not forget to mention that our fellow AnD Artist, Angelita Li performed here last year!

As I was walking out, I decide to drop my name card into the name card bowl so they could keep me on their mailing list for upcoming gigs. I enjoyed myself last time Bangkok Jazz, but I am sure Groove Junction is a much better and happening place for Jazz. After all, it is owned by the Jose Thomas family +P

I met with two lovely ladies outside the door doing some calculation to the cover charge they received. So I went on to and enquire about the event if it is on every Monday in their calendar. Appearantly NOT! It happen to be a one off thing as they have a request from a friend (SceneAtTheMovies) to organize this gig since they just got back from Australia for a holiday.
We chatted for awhile and I told them how I felt about the place and the event. Seriously, of all underground/indie gigs I went to, all venues despite what type of genre, Groove Junction is one splendid place for performances! Well, you know how loud Rock gets when bands starts to perform. You have no control with their sound level and after one set you just feel like walking out of the place because your ears couldn't take that threshold. I think that's how my ears turn bad LOL I get horrible ringings for two days every time after a concert or a gig like such. Perhaps the place was build for Live performances like Jazz, Soul, Funk etc.. Which musical instruments play a big role in the performances, not forgetting those lovely vocals.. unlike underground music which most bands think it has to be loud with screams to be rocking. Surprisingly the moment I walked in the bistro, my attention were already on the stage. The band and the music caught my attention, and my first feeling I had was, that was really good, I can hear the instruments clearly and it make such much difference to a performance. Well, of course the bands have to be good themselves too.

Anyway, back to the thing I wanted to tell. During the conversation with the two lovely ladies, after hearing my comment, they have decided to make Rock Monday an official gig in their calendar! Yay!!!! Now every second Monday of every Month, Groove Junction will be presenting Rock Monday! Indie bands have now a new place to perform!

This is how the lady bosses work la! Instant decision! and it was already being announced to the audiences who were present for the gig!

Little did I knew I was actually talking to both the founder, Jennifer Thomas & Joanne Yeoh at the same time, and with just our short conversation together, a gig has made official. With this, a place has grow and indie bands have hope for a better place (should be said GREAT PLACE!) for better performances (hopefully! Better be good guys!) to showcase to the great supporting audiences!
Let's support local music and make them grow!

Now, that is a great move to make a new difference in life! I just can't describe how happy I am and proud for Groove Junction.

For more information on Groove Junction, do check out their website for their upcoming events calendar and great dining menu!

Pictures here are taken from Groove-JunctionKL(dot)com

I hope to get in touch with Jennifer & Joanne again for the next gig on 9th February. I would like propose some bands to be on :D
Let's pray it happens and the guest who goes will have some surprise performances from a band who didn't perform for some time now. It is time for the boys to wake up from their 'sleep' and rock the place down! What an idea LOL ...........

YOUTH09 Day2

Foooooohhhhhh

Very tired LOL
Been up very early today which isn’t my norm haha especially after late night yesterday working online.

Superdy blurr in the morning. Suppose to meet up with the youthsays gang near LRT station, I end up in KTM station….. aiseh, what was I thinking?? LOL

Day 2 at Youth’09, someone must have read my post on my first day there and told me that the event venue wasn’t that small. LOL silly me… I missed out another hall to visit! So embarrassed hahahahaha

I followed the gang for awhile, then I kina lost them, so I went on my own. Since I knew what booth that I wanted to visit, it just took me awhile and I already got the information that I wanted. Registered myself for some exchange program to work in overseas. One of it was being a nanny in US LOL

I went on to the second hall (which I missed out on Day 1), this hall is much bigger than the other one, however it was quite empty when I was there (was I too early again??). The street basketball challenge was on. Battle of the band stage was just being set up. Modified cars were also being displayed at the exhibition hall. Bumped into a friend of mine, Saer Ze. Cute singer who also owns a boutique call OSIXNINE. I found a dress I kina like, quite cheap too at the fashion designer festival, sad that I didn’t had enough cash on me, sigh!

I went back to the exhibition booth, to 8tv’s booth.. Their camera team weren’t there yet as they were still having assignments elsewhere, so I hop on to gua.com.my’s booth and try out their audition. Surprisingly I wasn’t as nervous as I thought, though I feel I can do better :P It is my first try out at hosting. I guess I have a lot more to learn :D Second time speaking in front of the camera, I think I can be better the next time round.

Left PWTC around 1pm and head back to PJ as I have a 2pm meeting with the AES Society. Went back again just before 6pm hoping I could catch the last casting slot for 8tv before they close for the day. Unexpectedly bumped into Kevin (of Broken Scar). Great to meet him again, it has been so so long since we last actually catch up ever since he went to Aussie. Had a quick chat with him then off I go trying my luck for the casting slot.

When I was there, they were casting a girl. One of the staff told me the casting has been closed for the day. I asked if I could be slot in as the final last one, as I have been here the whole day and yesterday waiting for the slots to be open, but I was asked to wait since the camera team wasn’t there. Glad that Belinda Chee was just standing next to him over heard the conversation and told him to allow me to be the last one since they were still casting the final one. Yay! Thanks Bel! While I was filling up the talent release form, the feeling kicked in. I start to feel my heart beat race, cold sweat filling my palms…. NOOOOOooooooo! I am getting a panic attack!

I keep telling myself to calm down and get it over with. I did one in the afternoon, how come am I more afraid of this one?? Perhaps there was a ‘director’ there giving cue of what to do?? I stood behind the cameraman observing what the last girl was doing. She was interviewing Prem (of Fly FM). He was acting a character, sadly couldn’t really hear their conversation but bet it was funny because Prem’s look were like he is acting as a Trans +P
Finally it is my turn, the ‘director’ sat me down, passed me the mic briefly told me what to speak about. I was given 1minute to introduce myself. Then, he drop the bomb. I am given another 3minutes to host my own show, and Belinda will be acting as my guest. Less than a minute, I have to think of a show that I gonna be hosting, topic and Q&A for Bel.

Nothing came into my mind, all I could think of in that minute was teenagers (since we were at Youth09) and their interest. So I took the whole idea of Fame & Glory in this industry and whack out a few questions for Bel.
How did the whole casting went? I do feel I can do much better +P Never the less this is my first time experience on such casting. At least there are some improvement that I didn’t brain freeze (did a little when I do my introduction), do need to practice more…

One thing I realize that being on TV it isn’t that easy at all. When I was doing the interview, a few things came into my mind. My body posture, the way I was seated. My facial expression, I wasn’t smiling as much as I should. My hair was falling off my face. My speech, can still go slower rather than rushing thru my sentences and words. Pronunciation is very important so audience can understand what I was saying. Good preparation of work, to know the topic you gonna talk about and good Q&A questions. Constant communication with audience, not just only your guest. Keeping audience entertained throughout the show (tough one)…..
Much much more to learn! Maybe the GURUs here wanna give some advice? :P
Wish someone can tell me how I did during the casting, at least I can tell what my weak point is and approve.
Shall I try for radio next? Since I am camera shy hahahahahahahahahahaha
What a way to start my 2009… +P

YOUTH09 Day1

Went to YOUTH09 today :P Perhaps it is too early, went there around 12 ish but nothing much is on, at the entrance alone I bump into Sarah Lian.
Went in I saw the very nice car :P at Petronas booth, unfortunately it is not meant for me. I was searching around for 8tv booth as my main reason there today is for the casting call. First stop I went to the fashion designer festival, sadly not much was up as a lot of designer were still on their way in setting up. Maybe it is still day one, people are just freshing up. I would expect bigger crowd for Sat & Sun.

Stop for awhile at the 1x1 futsal booth, interesting! This is my first time seeing it, was nice to see how one holding one trying to score a goal :P It felt like to me like cage wrestling expect without mud but a ball LOL
Fly FM was giving out goodies and Rakan Muda were bumping the music out loud attracting people to join their activities.

Walked around and finally I spotted 8tv booth! rather small compared to Gua.com.my 's.
Sadly, the casting wasnt on today, they asked me to return tomorrow 2pm. NOOOOOOOOO! I have meeting tomorrow at 2pm! Is it destine that I cant do hosting?????
Oh well, in that case I have to try for tomorrow's Gua.com.my casting, which I think most likely I wont make it since they were looking for pretty faces.. :P
Anyhow, it is just for experience :D

Wish me luck!

ZZZzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzz

I cant sleep... It is 1.30am and my body feels very tired, but my brain is still very wide awake!

Kinna nervous as well..

Don't know if I should try or not.. but what if I make a fool of myself like last time??
Crap.. Cant believe I actually get nervous just before it is gonna happen....

Told myself that I have to try, at least try for once..... If not i will always regret it for not trying out...

Let's hope it goes well in the morning....

AH! crap.............

Internet DOWN

Just a little topic that came into my mind these few days. Are we relying too much on technology?

Internet been sucky lately at home and at office. My PC has been ‘throwing’ its little temper on me again, it would just suddenly turn into black screen (literally full BLACK) and I cant do anything to make it work, for sure the CPU is still on and working. When I force restart it will still be blank black screen and my CPU would give that little beeping sound. Finally, I had format my PC over the weekend, but it still turns out to be unstable. To make matter worst, Internet been coughing on me too. Spent RM 30 on just a single phone call to enquire how to sort out my internet connection, however they did not manage to solve any of my problem, I end up trouble shooting myself and got myself connect at 3am!!

Although I manage to get online, but the connection is really… really… really.. utterly SLOW! I am supposed to be on 1M broadband, but the technician says I applied for 512k, which is true because many years ago when I applied it, 512k was the highest speed they provide! When the internet provider promotes 1M, they have given all user of an free upgrade, so mine was last confirmed 1M speed. Now, how can it go backwards?? When I am paying the same amount of fee every month with other (just recent) applied user, I get less 50% speed??? Is this how they treat their LOYAL customer of 6 years!???

Am in the office now when horrible internet connection, it has been at least 2 weeks now we had been suffering internet failure at our office. This is not the way to work. I have to sneak into other studios to get internet connection from next door neighbour! Even I got to online, the connection isn’t stable as well.

This frustrates me a lot. Ever since I laid my hands on broadband, anything slower connection can get me going crazy. I still remember the time when I first started working, the office there only had 2 PCs (out of 5) that can connect to internet, however only 1 PC can connect to internet at one time as they were using dial-up. I can still remember the days we had to take turns to go online, check emails, reply client’s enquiries… I hate it the most is when we need to send documents out via email. Attaching one document alone will take at least half a day and another half a day to just send it out!! That’s how frustrating I was at work. Later on I took some time to introduce my ex boss about the wonders of technology and broadband. I managed to convince her to hook up a network in office so it would be easier for us to share files between one another, changed two PCs (which by then was still on wins95 with only 10GB hard disk). That made work much better and way faster! Especially when your client and suppliers are mainly from overseas.

While with all these going on, little that we know that we have other things around us that could also help us in completing our daily task, for instant like fax, dispatch, and snail mail. How many of us prefers emails than fax (leave out the excuses of wanting to save more trees and environment friendly..)? Many of us didn’t thought of using it much. I personally had to admit that I am one of those hardly touches fax unless it is really necessarily. Thinking of the days I had to wait my turn to use the internet and spending whole day to send out a document, I could have just used less than 20mins to print out the letter and fax it across to US!

For urgent matters, I could send my dispatch over to Client’s office to collect materials. Instead of right now, waiting for internet connection and waiting for it to download, when I could just use the time spending to have my client to burn the files to a data CD and send my dispatch to collect them.

I think too much I can talk about the wonders and disadvantages of using internet. I am still waiting to go online so I can ‘chat’ with my boss using goggle chat…..

Goodbye to 2008 and WELCOME 2009!!!

Goodbye 2008 and welcome 2009!

So fast time had pass, it is a new year again. I did not make any resolution for 2009 as I don’t think I have achieve any of my 2008’s. Well, I did maybe one or two but it is always never enough ;)

To wrap things up for year 2008, I went to Cameron Highlands which I will talk about it later and nice photos to share too. Christmas and New Year celebration was alright. I celebrate it with my family. As usual we have Christmas Feast at my aunt’s. This year we had it in KL instead of my mum’s hometown. New Year I just stayed home and lotsa drinking after that at my aunt’s house, not forgetting too Eddie’s house. Gosh! I never had so much drinks for quite a long time now. Few glasses of Bailey’s and red wine, then some Chinese wine and tons of beer at Eddie’s almost killed me. Woke up not with a hang over but hell of body ache. Hm… have to really consider if next time when Yvonne start to invite over for a drink LOL…..

I just went and watch Mama Mia the Musical today. It is almost the last show now. Glad I manage to catch the show, though I felt it didn’t worth my money of RM 500+ ..
The cast was incredible, love Sophie’s voice! I am so so so into Sky’s body! Wow! HOT! Though his accent was pretty funny. Bill reminds me of Steve, as they have some similarity, the hair & the looks though Steve is much cuter :P
A little on the technicality side, overall the music and sound is very well controlled, not doubt it is good, however at some point I felt it was empty, like the vocal & speech has lost its density. Like there is a empty hole in the middle. I agree that in the whole show the SPL can’t be too loud as if not we will be crying out with blood dripping from our ears, but at parts where the solo comes in it just drop drastically. Which I felt it should have just kept at a stable level. I still yet prefer vocals louder than music.

Ah… musicals.. I miss you.. when can I join you back for the fun and excitement???!!???

Hello HELO!

Just an old post just before the new year I posted :P

gonna pop a quickie here LOL
Its 2.30am and I am still halfway packing.. should be heading off to bed now.. Havent been blogging for awhile. got lotsa things to say but dono where to start..

Another Hugh *DROOL*

I was just browsing some friend’s picture and stumble upon this cute guy that I don’t think I have introduce him yet (or have I in some of my old blogs LOL)

This hunky here is Stephen Rahman-Hughes, he is half English and half Malay. When I first saw him, was at Latte@8 (a live talk show hosted by Jason Lo). He was back then a guest for that talk show, he was being interviewed and that time he was involved or just finished Bombay Dreams tour in UK. I just couldn’t take my eyes off him at the time LOL and best of all, he sang LIVE in front of me (just in within a stretch of my arm, as I was sitting very near to him and the stage). My first thought was this hunky is absolutely cute and his voice is amazing!

Pic: Bombay Dreams (check out that abs :P)

Then, I haven’t really heard much of him till he came back to Malaysia to do auditions for local musicals. That’s when I got to see him again. I have a picture of me and him somewhere LOL I just need to dig them out…. We happen to be at the calendar launch for our national theatre, Istana Budaya. I was working on another production (which right now is his ‘boss’ company production) and he was in Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical as the Main Lead.

Pic: Stephen (Left) & David (Right)

In recent photo, he seem to put on some weight, in some pictures he reminds me of Jim Clancy (David Conrad, pic below)…. Aww… how lovable! :P Love to cuddle him now LOL

Pic: David Conrad

Other than theatre, Stephen is also involve with TV series also movies such as being Immortal Zai in Highlander: The Source.. He also formed a Opera male vocal group known as Teatro.

Pic: Teatro (Stephen on the 1st Left)

Hm… think I will go back now again to drooling LOL
