Burn like LOBSTER!

Haven’t been online here for quite a bit!

Been busy for the past few weeks, and worst for the next couple of weeks. My long awaited trips are finally coming! Yay!

I will be away to Langkawi Island from 15th – 18th April. Despite living and growing up in Malaysia, I have not been to any islands except my birth place, Penang Island.
I am so looking forward to this trip, even bought new bikini too hahaha sadly my diet plan failed.. so hm…. Am thinking now how to look cute & hot in bikini with a belly LOL

I will be off to Ho Chi Min (Vietnam) in May then Bangkok after that… Will be all travel, travel, & lotsa travel! Don’t worry DG, I still remember you’re coming in June! I locked my June month for you hehehehehe do tell me your travel plans ya!

For the past couple of weeks, I been busy working for a few local Indie Bands, one of them are Frequency Cannon and RadioRabak (Formerly known as KIRI). Been arranging Indie Bands for Groove Junction Bistro & Restaurant. The following are some of the performance clips I recorded with my digital camera (so forgive me with the poor lighting and resolution ya!):

Last weekend, went to Frequency Cannon’s music video shoot for their single, Rise Above. ‘Rise Above’ just recently won two awards for Best Genre Bender and 3rd in Best Rock Song for Voize Independent Music Awards (VIMA 2008).

Took some nice shots of the boys for profiles and production shots. One thing though, am suffering now because of Sun Burn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ouch!

The Music Video should be out in two weeks time, so stay tune!
This is the first time ever a music video is being shot at the TUDM Museum, where all the old army planes are kept.

Now enjoy the pictures :D
More pics will be at my photo album ;)

Groove Junction Rock Monday OFFICIAL!

Finally today I have known the feeling of being able to make a difference in life. That feeling is just great!

Kevin (of Broken Scar) is performing at Groove Junction (www.groove-junctionkl.com) today. Since I didn't had chance to catch up with him during YOUTH09 (check out my previous post), I decided to try make it to his gig today. Sadly I was late....... I just missed his set. When I arrived, SceneAtTheMovies were performing. Man, are they good!

Chatted with Kevin for awhile then it was Altered Frequency's turn and they total ROCK! I think I have been to Altered Frequency's gig before but this is the first time I heard SceneAtTheMovies. It has been months since my last gig, and I totally enjoyed today's GIG! Thanks to the organisers, Groove Junction & SceneAtTheMovies for making this happen. I couldn't stay long so after Altered Frequency's performance I left as the crowd getting more and more, filling up every space & corners of the restaurant. Oh! Not forget to mention that our fellow AnD Artist, Angelita Li performed here last year!

As I was walking out, I decide to drop my name card into the name card bowl so they could keep me on their mailing list for upcoming gigs. I enjoyed myself last time Bangkok Jazz, but I am sure Groove Junction is a much better and happening place for Jazz. After all, it is owned by the Jose Thomas family +P

I met with two lovely ladies outside the door doing some calculation to the cover charge they received. So I went on to and enquire about the event if it is on every Monday in their calendar. Appearantly NOT! It happen to be a one off thing as they have a request from a friend (SceneAtTheMovies) to organize this gig since they just got back from Australia for a holiday.
We chatted for awhile and I told them how I felt about the place and the event. Seriously, of all underground/indie gigs I went to, all venues despite what type of genre, Groove Junction is one splendid place for performances! Well, you know how loud Rock gets when bands starts to perform. You have no control with their sound level and after one set you just feel like walking out of the place because your ears couldn't take that threshold. I think that's how my ears turn bad LOL I get horrible ringings for two days every time after a concert or a gig like such. Perhaps the place was build for Live performances like Jazz, Soul, Funk etc.. Which musical instruments play a big role in the performances, not forgetting those lovely vocals.. unlike underground music which most bands think it has to be loud with screams to be rocking. Surprisingly the moment I walked in the bistro, my attention were already on the stage. The band and the music caught my attention, and my first feeling I had was, that was really good, I can hear the instruments clearly and it make such much difference to a performance. Well, of course the bands have to be good themselves too.

Anyway, back to the thing I wanted to tell. During the conversation with the two lovely ladies, after hearing my comment, they have decided to make Rock Monday an official gig in their calendar! Yay!!!! Now every second Monday of every Month, Groove Junction will be presenting Rock Monday! Indie bands have now a new place to perform!

This is how the lady bosses work la! Instant decision! and it was already being announced to the audiences who were present for the gig!

Little did I knew I was actually talking to both the founder, Jennifer Thomas & Joanne Yeoh at the same time, and with just our short conversation together, a gig has made official. With this, a place has grow and indie bands have hope for a better place (should be said GREAT PLACE!) for better performances (hopefully! Better be good guys!) to showcase to the great supporting audiences!
Let's support local music and make them grow!

Now, that is a great move to make a new difference in life! I just can't describe how happy I am and proud for Groove Junction.

For more information on Groove Junction, do check out their website for their upcoming events calendar and great dining menu!

I hope to get in touch with Jennifer & Joanne again for the next gig on 9th February. I would like propose some bands to be on :D
Let's pray it happens and the guest who goes will have some surprise performances from a band who didn't perform for some time now. It is time for the boys to wake up from their 'sleep' and rock the place down! What an idea LOL ...........
